Laser Hair Removal in Vienna: Your Questions Before the First Appointment

Updated: 2 days ago
Stubble the next day, razor burn, ingrown hairs: anyone who shaves or waxes regularly knows this. Many people therefore consider laser hair removal, but have questions before the first appointment. How does it work? How does it feel? And is it even suitable for my skin and hair?
Here we answer the most common questions, based on how we work at Skin2Glow in Vienna Döbling.
In short
We work with the MeDioStar diode laser by Asclepion, with built-in cooling.
Before the first treatment there is a consultation: 30 minutes, free of charge.
Several sessions a few weeks apart are needed.
Prices per area, for example underarms 70 €, upper lip 35 €, full legs 230 €.
1. How does laser hair removal work?

The laser emits light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and turned into heat. This heat acts on the hair root. That is why darker, stronger hair generally responds better. Very light or fine hair can often be treated with adjusted settings. We cannot treat white hair with the laser.
2. What happens at the consultation?
We look at your skin and hair and clarify whether the treatment is suitable for you and with which settings. We also discuss roughly how many sessions make sense for your area and what to keep in mind beforehand. The consultation takes 30 minutes and costs nothing. You can also book it via Treatwell.
3. How does the treatment feel?
This varies a lot. Many describe a short, warm tingling. Sensitive areas such as the bikini or intimate area usually feel more intense. Our device cools the skin during the treatment, and we adjust the intensity to you. We cannot promise anyone a pain-free treatment, but you can tell us at any time if it is too much.
4. What to keep in mind before the appointment
Avoid direct sun and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks beforehand.
Shave the area 24 to 48 hours before the appointment.
Please do not wax, epilate or pluck. The hair root must stay in place for the laser.
5. What to keep in mind after the appointment
Your skin may be briefly red or sensitive afterwards. For 24 to 48 hours, avoid intense exercise, sauna, steam room, tanning beds, hot showers and strong friction. Use sunscreen with SPF 30 to 50 consistently. Shaving between sessions is allowed, waxing, epilating and plucking are not.
6. How many sessions are needed?
This depends on hair colour, hair thickness, skin type and area. Several sessions a few weeks apart are always needed. Hormonal changes or medication can encourage new hair growth. Occasional top-up sessions help in that case. We do not promise a specific number of sessions or a result that lasts forever.
7. When is the best time?
The treatment is possible all year round. Autumn and winter are especially suitable because the skin gets less sun. In spring and summer, consistent sun protection is important.
